Last week I competed at Ironman Canada which takes place in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. The travel out was a little tough with the family, but it was well worth it. Whistler is an AMAZING place and you really couldn't ask for a better venue. Overall, the trip went well and I had a pretty good day out there. I ended up 14th overall, 6th amateur, and 3rd in the M30-34 Age Group. I didn't need it, but I would have qualified for Kona again. Here is a link to some prerace clips and a little of the race:
My splits were pretty solid and I'm happy with my efforts on this challenging course. Here are some pics from the race:
Below is my race report:
Big shout out to my friend Elliot for winning the M25-29 Age group and grabbing a Kona slot. He did snub me on a high five on the second loop of the run which I'm not going to let him live down, but I guess it just shows how much focus he was putting into the race so I can respect that. I did manage to hold him off and take home the win in our rubber match race. Round 4 coming in Kona! Can't wait buddy!
Overall, I'm happy with how things went and it was a fun trip. Its good to have another solid IM effort under my belt. However, now its time to focus on the big dog, KONA! I will be racing Timberman 70.3 and the Half Ironman World Championships in Mont Tremblant prior to Kona, but that will be my focus for the rest of the season. Its only a little over 2 months out so it will be here before we know it! Thanks for reading/watching! :)
