Last week I competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. I've been excited for the opportunity to head back up to Mont Tremblant because my wife and I just love the venue. Its a great, challenging course, but the village is just awesome. Everything is so close and its very beautiful.
Since
had a tent at the race, it was an great opportunity for me to meet a few of their staff members that I have been emailing with on occasion over the past few months. They were extremely nice and they really made me feel like part of the Ceepo family. They also got my bike dialed in for me the day before the race which was really nice. Here is a link to some video from before the race:
Well, everything was going great and I was very excited to race until I woke up at around 11:30pm the night before the race was some MAJOR stomach issues. I still haven't been able to figure out exactly what the issue was because we brought food from home and I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary, but I definitely had some problems. More details (if you want to hear about them) as well as my full race report are in the video below:
So with the issues the night before the race, I was thrilled to even start the race, let alone finish within my range of my goal time. I ended up finishing in 4:20:42 which was good enough for 173 Overall, 30th in my Age Group, and the 4th American in my Age Group. I think I am capable of a bit more, but I will definitely take it. Here are some pics:
It was an honor to take part in the 70.3 World Championships and the competition was pretty fierce. With next year's race moving to Austria, I do not think I will participate in them again anytime soon. Nonetheless, it was a great opportunity and it was great Kona prep. That being said, its KONA TIME!!! All my efforts are now officially working towards Kona. I am feeling great and can't wait to get there and see what I can do. :)
