I can remember having a blast racing down the lane at my first swim meet as an 8yr old girl. Despite having the form of the Tazmanian Devil, from that moment on I was in love with swimming.
Growing up in the Northern Virginia area, I was fortunate to play many different sports. Somewhere near the middle of High School, I decided swimming was my passion and I became a single sport athlete.
I swam four years at Providence College, an NCAA Division I school. I enjoyed pushing myself through rigorous training and racing at the Big East Championship.
After a short break from swimming, I got back in the pool and managed some respectable times in my specialty sprint events. I heard about the 4.4mile Chesapeake Bay swim and thought that would be an awesome challenge for a pool sprinter! I swam the Chesapeake Bay 4.4mi swim in 2002 and 2003. Once I hit the Bay, I knew I loved swimming in the open water.
Having some experience with open water swimming, I was intrigued by triathlon. I knew I’d enjoy the swim, and the bike and run would be a new challenge. I have been participating in triathlon regularly since 2010. I continue to learn and have more fun each year. Friends, family and the tri-community have been a large part of this enjoyment!
I currently enjoy coaching swimmers and triathletes of all levels.
